Following a complex, two-year restoration made possible with the generous support of the Friends of Florence Foundation, Fra’ Angelico’s (1395–1455) depiction of the Deposition of Christ (1429-1432), an image of rare power and intensity in his Santa Trinita Altarpiece (1429-1432), is again on display in the Museo di San Marco, where visitors may admire and appreciate the astonishing results among his other works.
Performed by Lucia Biondi, this project is a collaboration between the Direzione Regionale Musei Nazionali della Toscana del Ministero della Cultura and Friends of Florence. The Foundation’s financial support over the years has resulted in the new layout of the Fra’ Angelico Room, which hosts the world’s most extensive collection of paintings on wood by
the artist. One of the greatest masters of the Florentine Early Renaissance, his masterpieces on display include the celebrated Bosco ai Frati Altarpiece also restored through Friends of Florence.
