Young Friends of Florence (YFF) is an initiative created by Rivers Hughes, son of Friends of Florence Leadership Circle members Lauren and Phil Hughes. Its first project – funded through support from youth in the Hughes’ hometown of Greenville, South Carolina – was to place a replica of Florence’s iconic sculpture Il Porcellino in downtown Greenville. The replica was cast in Florence by Frilli, Enrico Marinelli’s foundry.
The statue was unveiled on October 25, 2011, with Friends of Florence President Contessa Simonetta Brandolini d’Adda in attendance. Friends of Florence was given the keys to the city during the ceremony.
In addition to this project, YFF is also raising funds to support restoration work in Florence.
