ROME – A terracotta found about twenty years ago, covered with 9 layers of paints and brought to light by a very careful restoration by Loredana Di Marzio. This is the small ” Pieta” attributed by some scholars to the young Michelangelo.
The book “Michelangelo’s Pieta in terracotta. Studies and documents the interventions the Diagnostics”, in care of Claudio CRESCENTINI, with essays by: Claudio CRESCENTINI; Loredana DI MARZIO; ROY DOLINER; Tomaso EMALDI; Valentina MARTINO and Patrizia NITTI (Erreciemme Edizioni – Rome), presented on 7 March, at the headquarters of the Civita Association, reconstructs the restoration of the work and collects iconographic, historical and diagnostic documents in support of Michelangelo’s authorship.
